Our founder, Dr H.B. North, was a chemist with a life-long minerology passion, which led him to the development of minerals with practical implications and uses. NorthMoly’s parent company – North Metal & Chemical Company – began in York, Pennsylvania for the manufacture of Tungstate and Molybdenum compounds, at a time when no Molybdenum was being mined in the United States. In the early days, great effort was put into importing this rare mineral in order to manufacture and distribute it on a small scale. Since the 1980’s, NorthMoly has grown into the largest manufacturer of Molybdenum in the United States.
